Mathematics is partly the study of counting and measure, and the logical relationships between them. Yet how ironic it is that some of the greatest advances in mathematics have been made by the substitution of letters for numbers!

Some how this does nothing to demystify the mathematics of geometry, though does convey the mystery of calculations quite aptly.

      Thanks for your comment.

You’re right: it doesn’t demystify it at all. My apologies! If anything, it does make more of a mystery of calculation. For a long time, I’ve been fascinated to see how using unknown constant and variable quantities, represented by letters, helps to solve equations. Although I know how to do algebra, why it works is still a mystery to me.

I can tell that they are really brainstorming for ideas.
