Feedback, Criticism, and Judgment: Artistic Trifecta?

– Posted in: Aesthetics Collage & Montage Creativity Digital Collage Inspiration Surrealism Tips & Techniques Wood Engravings
I am intrigued by the feedback I get concerning my art, but it is only one influence among many that may affect what I will create. I don’t really plan my artwork; more often than not, it develops as I work to stay receptive to many different influences and to the artwork itself, which will tell me how—and in what direction—it wishes to grow at any given time.

I do not believe that art can really be judged. It will appeal to some and not to others, but that makes it neither “good” nor “bad.” In some sense, each artwork by any artist contributes something necessary to the vast tapestry of culture that is weaving and unfolding in every instant: a picture that none of us can see outside of the mind’s eye.

That’s a lovely work, intriguing objects and colors.
I agree that art (any kind of artistic works) could not be judged. In my humble opinion…how to put it?…art is a matter of sense, feeling, taste. There’s no absolute formula here and it differs in every single individual. Even when two people deem a certain artwork is appealing, there’s a possibility that they are appealed in a different ways or for different reasons. Well, that’s just my opinion.

Thanks for your compliment.

You and I seem to be on the same page on this issue. For the reasons you state and several others, all kinds of art appeal to many different kinds of individuals. So I find that it makes sense to think that all these diverse artworks form a larger cultural pattern whose general outlines we can only imagine. And this probably also applies to other forms of art as well: literature, dance, etc.

Your art work is so unique and your blog is very informative. I should think you will get your page rank soon. I think sometimes, Google pass up certain websites, not on purpose. I am on a race for my blog with you…:-) Blogger Broadcast doesn’t have a pagerank yet either.
