In the train of our thoughts are all the people who have helped form our lives—as ancestors, family, friends, teachers, and acquaintances. All of them watch over us from within our memories, conscious or unconscious. They guide us through the haphazard course we follow, as we do, unconsciously, with the lives of others.

At times it is given to us to look back on our course. From the crest of the present moment, if we observe carefully, we can see how the tracks of our lives have acted to shape and influence each other, and been shaped and influenced in turn.

Another interesting post, Eric! Though I can’t help thinking about all the slugs and snails I’ve just rounded up from the vegetable garden!

Wonderful meaning on this one. Without our ancestors we wouldn’t be here.

Thanks, Joyce…it’s actually a digital collage of engravings and photographs, but I wish I could take credit for it as a drawing!

A very interesting means of depicting personalities in the leaves grass and foliage. It does seem that way sometimes, especially if you think of how bodies recycle…

Thanks very much for your thoughtful comment! I’m glad that that the picture reads that way, since through it, I’d intended to suggest the continued existence of souls and the unity of all living things.
